“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

243 years ago when our forefathers penned these words in the first sentence of the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence, they knew that as a Nation we would have to fight at times to defend them. According to this stat sheet by Veteran’s Affairs, almost 42 million men and women have fought in America’s wars. Our forefathers last words were, “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.” 

We would like to express our supreme gratitude to the men and women who pledge their lives, their fortunes and their honor to protect our freedoms and the democratic ideals upon which our great Nation was framed and built. Our highest respect and honor goes to the 42 million who have fought in our wars and the current 1.4 million active military personnel and over 850,000 reservists who stand ready now to defend us against hostile nations.
